GÓRA ARARAT - ARARAT MOUNTAIN

Ararat jest symbolem Armenii i można to zauważyć dosłownie wszędzie. Wizerunki góry spotyka się na wszelkiego rodzaju pamiątkach, wisiorkach, zastawie stołowej, obrazach, dywanach, widokówkach, ale co najważniejsze - znajduje się w samym sercu godła i na banknotach. Dominuje w sztuce i literaturze.

Góra, nazywana w języku urzędowym Masisem, leży na historycznych terenach Armenii, w samym centrum Wyżyny Armeńskiej, między jeziorami Wan i Sewan, 32 km od granicy armeńsko-tureckiej. Składa się z Małego (3896 m n.p.m.) i Wielkiego Araratu (5137 m n.p.m.).

Nazwa góry pochodzi od imienia boga śmierci i odrodzenia - Ary. Według Biblii na stokach tej góry osiadła po Potopie Arka Noego, stąd tak wielkie symboliczne znaczenie ma ona dla najstarszego chrześcijańskiego państwa i tak wielki ból sprawia mu fakt, że jest ona obecnie w rękach tureckich.

Każdego ranka mieszkańcy Erywania budząc się, przecierają ze zdumienia oczy, jak piękna jest ich góra. Mówią również, że ze strony Armenii widok na Ararat jest znacznie ładniejszy niż ze strony Turcji. Ararat Turcja dostała na mocy moskiewskiego porozumienia z 1921 roku. Dostała, mimo że nie prosiła. I triumfalnie spogląda teraz na ból Ormian, którzy symbol swojego narodu mają na wyciągnięcie ręki, a mimo to potężnym murem stoi przed nimi zamknięta granica. Pozostaje im wzdychać przez każdy spośród 365 dni w roku do góry, którą tak kochają.

Ararat is an Armenian symbol and can be seen almost everywhere. Images of this mountain are on all kinds of souvenirs, pendants, tableware, paintings, carpets, postcards, but most importantly - this image is also in the heart of Armenian emblem and on their banknotes - drams. Ararat dominates in art and literature as well.
Mountain, known officialy in Armenia as Masis, is located in the historic areas of Armenia, in the center of Armenian Highland, between two most important lakes Wan and Sevan, 32 km from the border between Armenia and Turkey. It consists of the Small (3896 m) and the Great Ararat (5137 m).
Name Ararat comes from the name of god of death and rebirth - Ary. According to the Bible on the slopes of this mountain settled Noah's Ark after the Great Flood. This is why Ararat is so important symbol for the oldest Christian country, and why the fact that it is now in the hands of Turkish is so painful for them.
Citizens of Yerevan woke up every morning and admire their mountain. They say, that from Armenian side view of Ararat is more beautiful than from the Turkish side. Turkey got this mountain under the Moscow Agreement in 1921. They got it, although not asking for it. And now they look triumphantly on Armenians pain, for which this is a symbol of their nation not longer avaible to touch. The only thing which is left for them, is to admire it in every single day through the year...
